If you’re getting bored of your home’s design style, you’re not alone. A little home decor spruce is a great way to bring new energy to a space, and with spring deals already in full swing, now is a great time to get your decorating on.

You don’t want to buy the first thing you see and then regret it later, so having a plan is a must. First, create a vision for your space and then buy products that will match your style. If you don’t know what that is yet, a little inspo will get your gears turning. Here are our top six places to help you find inspiration for your personal decor style.

1. Seasonal Catalogs

Seasonal catalogs are one of the best ways to see what’s new and trendy in the home decor world. Not only do catalogs include beautiful imagery of products you might be interested in buying, but they also show examples of different ways to style a room — from the paint on the walls, to the flooring, and accessories like cushions and art pieces.

Flipp Tipp: Did you know, the home and garden section on Flipp includes seasonal catalogs? Browse and get inspired by your favorite retailers!

2. Online Magazines

If you’re someone who finds inspiration by reading and looking at photography, online home and garden magazines are a great place to collect ideas. Here are a few of our favorites.

  • Better Homes & Gardens has a decorating section with tons of articles — from home organization ideas to painting guides, and DIY home decor ideas.
  • The Spruce shares real-life tips and inspiration to help you make your best home — from decorating and gardening advice, to entertaining, and home repair how-to’s.
  • Architectural Digest has home remodeling ideas for every room, including advice from experts, checklists to help you get started, and before-and-after transformations for inspiration.
  • Romantic Homes offers elegant inspiration for everyday life. We love their “house tours” section that showcases examples of different design styles.

3. Pinterest Boards

Pinterest is one of the most popular online places to find inspirational images. What’s great about Pinterest is that it keeps you organized with “Boards” to save all of your favorite images, or “Pins,” in one place. You can search for almost anything, from “cozy color palettes” to “minimalist room,” and you’re not limited to what’s already on Pinterest.

If you see an image you like while browsing the web, you can create a new Pin with the site’s URL and add it to your Board. You can also follow existing Boards on Pinterest if you’re interested in seeing what others are creating. Below are a couple of Boards from our partners that we love.

4. Instagram Hashtags

Instagram is another social media platform that can be used to find inspiration on home decor, specifically for its powerful use of hashtags. Search for anything decor-related on your Instagram app using the hashtag symbol. For example, #farmhousedecor. Then, you can browse all posts with that hashtag, explore related tags, and also follow specific hashtags so that any new content appears on your home feed.

Here, we’ll help you get started. Some popular decor hashtags are:

#homedesign, #homedecorideas, #decorinspo, #interiordesign, #homesweethome, #livingroomdecor, #kitchendesign, #renovationproject, #diyhomedecor

5. The World Around You

Inspiration can come from anywhere, so don’t skip out on an opportunity to make note of colors and styles you love. Whether you like a specific piece of furniture in someone’s house, specific colors you encounter during a walk outdoors, or a piece of art shown in your favorite TV show, take a photo or screenshot of the things that interest you and start designing your dream space.

6. Shops and Showrooms

Online research is a great way to start your planning, but nothing can replace seeing and feeling a product in-person. If local guidelines allow, take some time to browse your favorite home decor stores and showrooms to inspect the quality of products and examine textures and materials. You’ll notice that products showcased online may look a lot different in real life. Showrooms can also be an immersive form of inspiration. Notice how different pieces of furniture and decorations are arranged to get a better idea of what layouts could work for your home.

Once you’ve nailed down your design style, the next step is to source products that will bring your vision to life. For deals and affordable options, remember to check the Flipp app to see what’s on sale at your favorite stores.
