Meet Alise, one of our Account Executives on our External Partnerships team in Vancouver. In her day-to-day, you’ll find Alise navigating retailer calls like a pro, diving into planning mode, and crushing the occasional QBR with her team. All of this while working remotely! So today, we’ve ‘pulled Alise for a chat’ to get her take on how to achieve the perfect balance and thrive in a remote work environment.
Alise is from Ottawa, and moved out east to Halifax and attended Dalhousie University for 4 years with the goal of working for a start-up organization. Alise joined a small organization in Customer Experience and moved into Customer Success. With her time there, she was working with accounts and realized she enjoyed the sales aspect of her role.
Alise learned about Flipp and was interested in how Flipp reached so many Canadians and is part of people’s everyday lives. Alise joined Flipp and our External Partnerships team as an Account Manager in 2023 and was promoted to an Account Executive role, partnering with reputable retailers across Canada and the USA.

At Flipp, Alise works as an Account Executive, helping retailers connect their big-picture marketing goals to what Flipp offers. She focuses on understanding their strategy inside and out and works closely with teams across the company to deliver solutions with a true partner-first mindset.
Based in Vancouver and rocking a 7-to-3 schedule, Alise kicks off her day with a good stretch and a must-have black Americano (non-negotiable). Mornings are usually packed with meetings, but she always makes time for a 9 a.m. coffee reset — because one cup is never enough.
Working remotely, Alise builds in mini breaks to recharge — a much-needed boost on days full of presenting and external meetings. When the workday wraps, you’ll often find her unwinding with a Lagree Pilates class to disconnect and reset for the next day.
Remote work can sometimes be challenging. How do you hold yourself accountable while working from home?

I received great advice from Graeme Molloy for sharing some great tips about grouping similar tasks to stay productive. That advice really stuck with me!
I love having a structured list, and I’m married to my to-do list (Google Tasks is my go-to — there’s nothing more satisfying than clicking that little checkmark). I like to use my mornings to power through quick wins and smaller tasks, usually by setting aside a focused time block to knock them out. Afternoons are my deep-focus zone — I block off my calendar so I can dive into bigger, more strategic projects without distractions. Separating short tasks from long-haul ones helps me stay organized and on track.
How do you foster those connections and relationships while working remotely?
Although we’re remote, I really try to savour the moments we get to spend together in person and make them extra special. At Flipp Fest, for example, I always try to grab a coffee with someone I haven’t met yet to get some one-on-one time in. It’s those little connections that make the difference.
I’ve also been part of creating a local community in Vancouver, which has made me feel more connected to Flipp as an organization. Our monthly lunch meetups with fellow Flippers have become a fun ritual, and twice a year, we do another type of event that’s half a day, such as pumpkin picking at a local farm, a pottery class, and arcade games over the holidays.
On the virtual side, I try to keep it simple by taking a few minutes at the start of meetings to check in, ask how people are doing, and learn something small about them. That way, when I do see someone in person, it already feels like reconnecting with a friend and not meeting someone new.
Since joining Flipp, what’s one moment you’ve been especially proud of?

One of the biggest accomplishments I’m most proud of since joining Flipp was being promoted from Account Manager to Account Executive. That milestone meant a lot to me as it’s been a full circle moment by getting to work closely with my own Account Manager now. Being able to relate my experience to help coach, support, and share what I’ve learned with someone who’s on a similar path has been so exciting.
When I first joined, I brought in a strong background in relationship management and was always excited as an Account Manager to jump into presentations or take the lead on projects. But the thing I had to learn at Flipp was a lot more on the data side. That was the area I knew I had to grow. Thankfully, I had some incredible mentors (shoutout to Kasia Szymanska, Nicole Miller and Niki Paiva!) who supported me along the way. The missing puzzle piece at the end of the day was getting strong in that area, and that growth is what helped me step into the new role.
You live in Vancouver. What’s something you love about living there?
I originally made the move to British Columbia in 2020 for a ski season in Whistler to be outside. I love that Vancouver offers endless opportunities to get outside, whether it’s skiing in the winter, hiking year-round, or soaking up ocean views any day of the week.

Any hidden gems or favourite local spots?
Nothing in BC is hidden these days, but if you’re ever visiting, my recommendation is Bowen Island. There are a lot of cool activities to do there, even the ferry ride is a beautiful ride over, and you can go hiking, kayaking, and you’re just out in the middle of the ocean.
In my heart, I feel like a California girl, so my favourite place to work is Kits Beach Coffee. It’s a cozy little café near the water that gives major West Coast surfer vibes (and yes, I run through more than a few punch cards from visiting there).

If you could give advice to someone starting at Flipp tomorrow, what would you tell them?
Embrace the process; not every day will be the same when you’re remote, as you’re unsure if you’ve accomplished enough, and some days may feel more productive than others. Embrace it for what it is! Take advantage of the things Flipp has to offer, our great benefits, and take your summer Fridays and go outside!
What excites you about the future of Flipp?
The joining forces with MEDIA Central and Shopfully, to be here, and see Flipp become a global organization. There’s a lot of amazing innovation and products coming down the pipe, and I feel like we’re going in the right direction and excited to see what happens.
