10 Ways to Take Care of Yourself This Long Weekend

It’s the last long weekend of summer, and we want you to spend it the best way possible: by taking care of YOU. There are a million different ways to practice self-care, but if you’re stuck on how you want to spend your extra long weekend, we have some suggestions for you.

If you need to pick up any goodies to elevate your weekend of self-care, be sure to check out the Flipp app for great sales. You know what they say, #treatyourself.

1. Spend time with friends & family

Plan some time to get together with your friends, family, or anyone that will make you smile and laugh this weekend. If you recharge by being around others, make sure you carve out some quality time with those you love, while enjoying summer activities like picnicking, barbecuing, hiking, etc.

2. Rest

Don’t feel guilty about doing nothing this long weekend! If you would rather snuggle up with your favorite blanket and catch up on your sleep, then that is what you should do. Sleep in on Sunday morning, or take a mid-afternoon nap. Your mind and body will thank you afterwards!

3. Exercise

Take advantage of those outdoor activities before the summer is over. Go for a bike ride, hike, or a swim. Keeping your body moving and spending time outdoors will make you feel your best. Even if that means being sore for a couple of days. If you decide to go out for a hike, check out our hiking essentials checklist to make sure you’re prepared.

4. Nourish your body

Grab your apron and spend some time cooking up a nutritious meal or meal prepping some healthy dishes that will not only save you some valuable time during the week, but also ensure you’re nourishing yourself and your family with goodness. If you’re not familiar with meal prep, check out our meal prepping 101 guide for some inspiration.

5. Get creative

If you have that crafty itch, pull out your paint brushes and craft supplies and let the creative juices start flowing. Try making something for your home or maybe some back-to-school items for the kids.

6. Kick back and watch a movie or TV show

Is there a show on Netflix you’ve been wanting to binge-watch? Or a movie that’s been on your watch list for far too long? Pop some popcorn, put your feet up, relax on the couch and enjoy. Remember to check your local grocery deals on the Flipp app to stock up your favorite binge worthy snacks.

7. Clean and declutter your space

This long weekend may finally lend you the time to clean up your closet or organize your kitchen. Cleaning up your space is sure to make you feel accomplished and more organized. Check out our pantry organization tips.

9. Read or listen to an audio book

Your body isn’t the only thing that needs nourishment. Take some time to nourish your mind this weekend, too. Dust off the book that’s been sitting on your bedside table or pop your headphones in and listen to an audio book!

10. Pamper yourself

Finish off your long weekend with a day of pampering. Mani-pedi anyone? Soak in the tub? Choose one or all of your pampering rituals — you deserve it!

However you choose to spend your long weekend, we hope you make some time to do whatever it is that makes you happy!
