At Flipp, we believe that interviews should be more than just a Q&A session – they should be an opportunity for meaningful conversations where candidates will feel informed, supported, and empowered to be themselves. This guide will walk you through our interview process, share tips to help you prepare, and answer frequently asked questions so you can make the most of your interview and feel confident throughout the experience.

Virtual Interview Best Practices

We conduct all of our interviews virtually, which means you can connect with us from the comfort of your own space. To help you have the best experience possible, here are some key tips to ensure a smooth and successful virtual interview.

Check Your Tech:

Virtual interviews require a working camera, microphone, and a reliable internet connection. We use Google Meet for our interviews, so make sure your setup is compatible. Before your interview:

  • Test your internet connection.
  • Click on the link shared by our Talent Acquisition Team at least 5 minutes before your scheduled interview to ensure that it works.
  • Check that your camera, microphone, and sound are working properly.

Set Up a Distraction-Free Space:

We know interviewing from home can come with unexpected distractions, but choosing a quiet, professional setting can make all the difference.

  • Find a space where you won’t be interrupted.
  • Find a quiet space with minimal background noise where you won’t be interrupted.
  • Consider enabling a virtual background for a distraction-free appearance.
  • Turn off notifications on your phone and computer to stay focused.

At Flipp, we empower Flippers to be their true authentic selves, personally and professionally. Formal attire is not required. We care about what you can do, not what you wear.

Show us how you’ve prepared

When preparing for an interview, it’s about making sure the role aligns with your goals and expectations. Remember, an interview isn’t just about answering questions –  it’s also your chance to ask some great questions of your own. We recommend before your interview:

  • Check LinkedIn Profiles: Take time to research your interviewers on LinkedIn to understand their roles and their career journey. This can help you craft personalized and thoughtful questions.
  • Learn About Flipp: Beyond the job posting, research our Cultural Values around being Other-Centered, Hungry, Humble and Highly Intelligent, thinking about how you embody them and how you can contribute to fostering these values within the team.

Be yourself

Think of your interview as a spotlight moment—it’s your chance to shine! Your interviewer is curious to know about your journey, what excites you, and how you plan to leave your mark. But remember, they can only see what you bring to the table during your time together. That’s why preparation is key—when you plan ahead, you’ll be ready to highlight your strengths and put your best foot forward. Interviewers can only assess your skills and abilities based on what you show them during your interview, so it’s important to plan and prepare to showcase your strengths best.

Follow the CAR format

We recommend answers that follow the CAR format to organize your thoughts and keeps your responses clear and impactful. This format helps articulate the situation, action, and results.

  • Context: Give us the background and context since we may not know the industry or initiative well.
  • Action: What exactly did you do? What actions did you take? Why?
  • Results: What was the quantifiable result?

Stay engaged and actively listen

When you combine knowledge of the job description and research about your interviewers, you come across as confident, prepared, and genuinely invested. Remember, interviews are a chance for both parties to evaluate fit—so don’t hesitate to ask thoughtful questions that will help you make the best decision for your career.

Equally important as your answers is your ability to actively listen. Pay close attention to what’s being said, and if something is unclear, ask for clarification. This ensures you fully understand the role and expectations, while also demonstrating your engagement and communication skills.

We know that the job search process requires dedication, and we don’t take that for granted. No matter the outcome, we value the opportunity to connect with talented professionals like yourself and we hope we can help you make the best decision for your career.
