Avocados are now at the highest price they have ever been. Guacamole is a classic dip loved by all, but unfortunately, it’s becoming more expensive to make. With rising inflation and tighter budgets, if you’re worried about having to say goodbye to your favorite chip companion, you’re not alone — but don’t worry.  We have five delicious chip dip recipes that you can make instead.

Green Goddess Salad

This viral TikTok recipe is great if you still want a green dip that’s nutrition-packed. Try a new twist on a salad with this pesto-based dip from Baked By Melissa.

Salad Ingredients:

  • 1 small head of green cabbage
  • 1 large cucumber
  • ¼ cup of chives
  • 1 bundle of green onions

Dressing Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of basil leaves
  • 1 cup of spinach leaves
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 small shallot
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • ¼ cup of olive oil
  • ¼ cup of walnuts (or nut of your choice)
  • ⅓ cup of Nutritional Yeast
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 2 tbsp of vinegar 
  • Any extra chives (optional)


  1. Wash and chop salad ingredients into a large bowl.
  2. Blend dressing ingredients in a blender.
  3. Pour dressing over salad, toss, and enjoy.

Hot Spinach Dip

This warm and comforting dip by Dinner at the Zoo is easy to make and will taste like you bought it from your favorite restaurant. Simply switch out the cheese for a cheaper option or for the kind you have on hand.



  1. Saute spinach in a pan, squeeze out excess water once cooled.
  2. Combine spinach, sour cream, cheeses, garlic, salt and pepper in a bowl.
  3. Grease a baking dish with oil.
  4. Spread spinach mixture in dish and top with additional mozzarella.
  5. Bake at 375 F for 20 minutes, then broil for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Serve warm with a sprinkle of parsley on top . 

Jalapeno Popper Dip 

This dip inspired by the delicious snack is flavorful, creamy, and not too spicy. It can even be made ahead and kept in the fridge to enjoy at any time.



  1. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl with a spatula. 
  2. Keep in the fridge until ready to serve.
  3. For the smoothest consistency, whip the ingredients with a beater until smooth. Then, fold in the jalapenos. 

Mexican Corn Dip

You likely already have all the ingredients at home for this dip. It uses pantry essentials and frozen vegetables that last a while, so you can make this over and over again. This super easy dip comes together in no time, just toss everything into a large bowl and it’s ready for dipping.


  • 1 cup corn 
  • 1 cup black beans 
  • ¼ cup red onion
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • Juice of half a lemon or 1 lime
  • 2 tbsp coriander or parsley
  • 1 jalapeno (optional) 

Chocolate Chip Dip 

Who says dips can’t be sweet? This dessert-inspired dip by Taste of Home is a sweet surprise you’ll wish you tried sooner! Dip with tortilla chips for a cannoli-style flavor, or with your favorite cookies like ginger snaps or graham crackers.


  •  8 ounces cream cheese
  • ½ cup softened butter
  • ¾ cup confectioner’s sugar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips


  1. Beat cream cheese and butter together until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the sugars and vanilla.
  3. Fold in the chocolate chips.
